Maintaining Numerically Controlled Rotary Tables

At Kitagawa we take our reputation seriously and aim to supply only the very best products to our customers.  We understand that the quality and accuracy of our goods impacts on the standard of the items that our customers manufacture.  Our commitment to high quality products shows through in our numerically controlled rotary tables, which provide unrivalled all-round performance.  Built using only the very best materials, our rotary tables are extremely durable, meaning they require little maintenance.  However, there are a few tasks that should be carried out on a regular basis in order to keep our numerically controlled rotary tables operating it their peak.

Changing the oil

All of our rotary tables require lubrication oil to keep the faceplate running smoothly. We recommend checking the lubrication oil is filled to the centre line of the oil gauge each day before operating the machine.   Every 6 months the lubrication oil should be drained completely and replaced with new.  When refilling the oil ensure that no chips or foreign matter contaminate the fresh oil.  The recommended oils can be seen below.

Some Kitagawa rotary tables utilise a hydraulic method of clamping.  Whilst it is extremely rare for hydraulic oil to ever need replacing during the lifespan of the machine; you should check it every now and then to make sure the level is correct.  If you do need to change or top up the oil please use oils recommended in the following table.

Checking the switches

In the unlikely event that you have any problems with the switches of your Kitagawa rotary tables then you are likely to become aware of it immediately.  However, it is good practice to check that all of the switches are working correctly on a regular basis and pre-empt any problems that could halt production.

Clean Air

It is very important to keep the air supply to your rotary table clean, dry and at the correct pressure. Maintenance of the air filter, mist separator, drain catcher and regulator fitted on the machine tool should be done on a regular basis.  We also recommend the pneumatic exhaust port on the rotary table is checked and cleaned at the same time to allow a smooth flow of air throughout the system.

Adjusting backlash

Whilst all of our rotary tables are built with durability in mind, there will eventually come a time when accuracy will be slightly affected due to backlash.  Whilst this may not occur until several years of service have passed, you should check on a regular basis to be certain that accuracy levels remain high.  Where necessary the backlash can be simply adjusted to reset accuracy to the required level.  Instructions of how to adjust the backlash can be found in the maintenance manual supplied with the table.
